What is a swift code?

Swift Code is a standard format of Bank Identifier Codes (BIC) and it is unique identification code for a particular bank.

The code is used when transferring funds between banks, specifically for international bank wire transfers.

Swift code consists of 8 or 11 characters.

When 8 characters are given, it refers to the bank’s primary office.

Let us look at the example below before we list the swift codes for banks in Ghana.
