Raymond Sifiso Ndlovu Dabengwa is known to be the founder of MTN Group. He is a South African-based executive in the telecom industry from Zimbabwe. He supported the formation of the MTN Group.
Dabengwa is a graduate of the EDP, MBA, and BB.Sc. (Elect. Eng. Dabengwa obtained both an MBA and a bachelor of science in engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He also attended the University of Zimbabwe. Between earning his first and second degrees, Dabengwa worked as a trainee for the British Rail for a while before joining the Zimbabwe Railways.
RAYMOND SIFISO NDLOVU DABENGWA’S ACHIEVEMENT
From March 31, 2011, to November 9, 2015, Dabengwa, a BB.Sc., held the positions of president and chief executive officer at MTN Group Ltd. Up until March 31, 2011, Mr. Dabengwa was the MTN Group Ltd.’s chief operating officer. He was the Managing Director of MTN SA, a subsidiary of MTN Group Ltd. At MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd., Mr. Dabengwa held the position of Chief Operating Officer-South Africa.
He held both the positions of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd. starting November 1, 2004. He was in charge of creating and implementing the strategic direction, ensuring profitable growth, and achieving the necessary performance goals. Up until November 2004, he was the group chief operating officer of MTN Group Ltd. His greatest accomplishments have been maintaining and enhancing the market position of the MTN group despite growing competition and resource demand. Prior to joining MTN, Mr. Dabengwa worked for Eskom for a number of years as a member of the organization’s management board, where he was in charge of all of the company’s distribution operations, including sales, customer service, marketing, engineering, and technology.
