If you are a tech enthusiast or maybe a consumer of tech product, the CES – Consumer Electronics Show (as it was formerly called, now CES) organized by Consumer Technology Association (CTA) is one of the shows you have to mark on your calendar.
CES is the world’s gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. It has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for 50 years — the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace. It attracts the world’s business leaders and pioneering thinkers. The first CES was held in June 1967 in New York City. It was a spinoff from the Chicago Music Show, which until then had served as the main event for exhibiting consumer electronics. The event had 17,500 attendees and over 100 exhibitors; the kickoff speaker was Motorola chairman Bob Galvin. Serving it purpose right for all these years CES covers but not limited to automobile, health, lifestyle, sports, entertainment and many more.
This year show is slated for 9th – 12th of January 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada though it will begin earlier on the 7th of January with a couple of press conferences.
Well! What to expect? You have to expect a lot, I mean a lot. Currently with these AI and machine learning technologies syndrome – lol, all over the tech ecosystem, your first bet should be a lot of artificial intelligent technologies – robots mimicking human beings, trying to do what we do best and all other stuff AI. Those into smartphones will not be left out; high-end and technologically advanced phones will be on display with all those mind bugling features. TVs, cars, home appliances, gaming devices, sports products, wearables, etc with the next generation and futuristic technologies from the world biggest brands to emerging startup will be on exhibition.
One particular technology that will dominate the headlines and will be leading in the topics for the talking point will the possible introduction of the next generation of cellular technology. The fifth generation technology of cellular connectivity – 5G. Though talks about this technology has been that its actualization will be somewhere around 2019, it is coming real fast than we thought. With the emergence of futuristic technologies like driverless cars, robots surgery, virtual realities, and others, there is the need for a higher and faster connectivity to power these technologies hence it introduction before its expected time. So with all the next generational devices on display, you should expect much talks or a probable introduction of the 5G technology at this years CES.
