The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has successfully implemented the NHIS Mobile Renewal Service in all districts in Ghana.
Together with its software solution partners, the NHIA has fully developed a dedicated NHIS USSD-based service for its members for easy NHIS membership renewal.
In December 2018, the National Health Insurance Authority informed the Ghanaian populace about the introduction of the Mobile Renewal Service in early 2019.
It is finally here. You can now renew your NHIS Membership in Ghana with any mobile phone by just dialing *929# from any network.
This new development has brought a lot of convenience to NHIS members by eliminating the traditional way of visiting NHIS District Offices to join queues and wait for renewal to be done.
The cost of transportation fees to travel to NHIS offices and other unforeseen inconveniences have been eliminated by the new mobile renewal system. Thanks to the NHIS Management Team.
The National Health Insurance Scheme Management has notified the general public to desist from imposters purporting to be “National Health Insurance Scheme” Agents who may try to take advantage of the new NHIS Mobile Renewal Service to dupe members.
NHIA has stated clearly that it has no agents working on their behalf, therefore, the public should take note.
What are the steps to renew your NHIS Membership on Mobile Phone?
To renew your membership, follow the steps below:
- Dial *929#
- Enter Option 2
- Select NHIS Card
- Enter your 8-digit NHIS Membership Number
- Press Send
- Follow the prompts to make payment.

If you’re unable to go through the renewal process by yourself, get an assistant.
Do not give your mobile PIN to anyone.
